Dahab Wingfoil Cup Victory: Stepan Shevchenko Takes the Crown

The Dahab Wingfoil Cup in the course race discipline has officially concluded, leaving behind a trail of high-speed memories and incredible sporting achievements. The event once again highlighted why the Red Sea coast remains a top-tier destination for the global wingfoiling community.

A Truly International Fleet This year, the competition welcomed 14 elite athletes representing 4 different nations. The diverse lineup brought a unique dynamic to the event, as riders shared tactical insights and pushed each other to the limit on the water. The Five Squares center provided the perfect backdrop for this international gathering, fostering both fierce competition and professional camaraderie.

Fourteen Races of Pure Adrenaline We couldn’t have asked for better conditions. The wind gods were generous, providing three full days of consistent, high-quality breeze. This allowed the organizers to run a grueling schedule of 14 heats, giving every participant plenty of time to showcase their skills and adjust their strategies.

The course race format is the ultimate test for any wingfoiler. It’s not just about who has the fastest gear; it’s about tactical positioning at the start line, maintaining flight through every jibe, and finding the cleanest wind on the upwind legs. With 14 races completed, there was no room for luck—only the most consistent and technically sound riders reached the top.

The Rise of a Champion The standout performer of the tournament was a young talent from Yekaterinburg, Stepan Shevchenko. Stepan’s performance was a masterclass in consistency. Despite the pressure from more experienced competitors, he managed to maintain his lead throughout the series, demonstrating exceptional board control and tactical maturity beyond his years. His gold medal is a testament to the bright future of the sport.
